Marsha has always wanted a BLACK mare, and while in some ways, "Honey" is not a typical choice for us, we also feel she is an exceptional mare, in conformation, pedigree, and disposition. She is bred (and branded) by Char-O-Lot Ranch at Myakka City, Florida, and is a Halter Point Winner.
Honey's sire is Mr Sonny Money, who was 1983 AQHA Reserve World Champion 2 Year Old Stallion, and the 1984 AQHA World Champion 3 Year Old. He is a Superior Halter Winner and the sire of numerous halter and performance winners, including 10 AQHA World Champions and 13 Reserve World Champions. Both of Honey's grandsires are also AQHA World Champions and Superior Halter Winners and Sires of World Champions. Sonny Go Lucky is the 1974 AQHA World Champion 2 Yr Old Stallion, and Skipa Star is the 1975 World Champion 2 Yr Old Stallion. Sonny Go Lucky is by the immortal Sonny Dee Bar; and Skipa Star is by Skipper's Lad by Skipper W. Yes, Honey's pedigree is 7/8 AQHA (something we don't typically choose), but it is exceptional World Champion AQHA breeding too.
Honey's dam, Special Star, is a Halter Point Winner and a broodmare at Crown Center Farms at Columbia, MO. She sold at Gary Raak's 1993 Spring Specular Sale at Hastings, MN for $5800. She has also produced a R.O.M. Winner, 3 Halter Wnrs with 9.5 Pts, 1 Performance Winner with 78 Pts, and 1 Youth Winner with 358.5 Pts. She is also the dam of Skipa Bar Dee (photo) and Tottaly A Star (photo), a Futurity Winner and High Selling Yearling ($5300) and the Spring 1999 Twin Cities Appaloosa Sale.
Honey's granddam is Jokers Wah Kon Dah, who was a Missouri Regional Halter Champion. She also was the 1970 National Champion Senior Western Pleasure Winner. She also placed 3rd in Aged Mares at the 1970 National Show (in a class of 49). She is also a producer of a Bronze Medallion Winner, a National Champion & Halter and Performance Point Winners, including, Regal Splendor (photo).
"Jenna" is a big bodied mare, who has been producing nice babies for us. She is a very well bred mare, tracing back to 7 Appaloosas, who have been inducted into the Appaloosa Hall of Fame - Joker B, Double Six Domino, Peavy Bimbo, Top Hat H, Prince Plaudit, Hayes' Roman Cloud, and Mansfield Comanche.
Her sire, Master Cloud, is a Halter and Performance Champion with 20 National Points and the sire of multiple ROM winners and Halter and Performance Point winners. He has sired 4 Halter Winners with 30.5 Points and 3 Performance Winners with 23 Points. His sire, On Cloud Nine, won Grand Championships at the Texas Futurity and the big GEAR show. He is also the 1977 National Champion 3 Year Old Stallion. He is also a Stakes Winner. He has sired numerous champions, including 10 Bronze Medallion Winners, a Superior Halter and Performance Champion, multiple ROM winners, and 44 Halter Winners with 772 Points, and 25 Performance Winners with 737 Points. Master Cloud's dam, Top Etta (by Top Hat H), is also a halter champion and a stakes winner, and has produced a Bronze Medallion Winner and a National Champion.
Jenna's dam, Bimbos Cinnamon, was bred by Joyce and Judy Betz of Caledonia, Minn. They were very active in the Regional Appaloosa clubs of the area in the late 1970's and 1980's. Their stallion (and Bimbos Cinnamon's sire) was Sun Rock. He was a halter champion in three different regional clubs (Wissota, SE Wisconsin, and Indianhead) and has sired regional champions and national point winners. A full brother to Bimbos Cinnamon was Sun Power Prince, the 1981 Hi-Point Colt in the Wissota Club and Reserve Hi-Point in the Indianhead Club.
